The House that Built Me...

These last couple weeks have been a whirlwind. And as I close the chapter at one school and head to another, the country western song "The House that Built Me" by Miranda Lambert keeps running through my mind. Today I thought: "well Bethie, write a little post using the lyrics"...so I pulled up the lyrics and they are SOO SAD! And this transition isn't something to cry about. It's something to celebrate because a door has opened for me to now use the skills that I have acquired over the last couple of years. This evening, I've been trying to think of something else to use, but all I got is the single line of the chorus "Won't take nothing but a memory...from the house that built me". But it's not just memories, it's soo much more. There is a children's book called "This is the House that Jack Built". It totally describes my journey better than that sad sad song. So:

This is the face of this A.P.

These are the shoes,
that went on the feet right a
long with this A.P.

This is the hall that those shoes would walk
that went right along with this A.P.

This is the room where students would squirm,
as they were escorted down the hall
by the shoes that went on the feet right
along with this A.P.

These are the faces of the people who taught in the space
where the room was where students did squirm
as they were escorted down the hall by
the shoes that went along with the face of this A.P.

This is the door that would wait patiently for the fire drill to be done,
as students went out with the faces of those who taught in the space
where the room was that students did squirm
as they were escorted down the hall by the
shoes that went along with the face of this A.P.

This is the office where I first became this A.P. that wore the shoes that escorted students to the room where they squirmed, that was filled with the people who taught in the space, and lead students out the door that the fire drill closed.

The House that Built Me...

What a great adventure it has been. I'm sad that this part of the adventure had to end, but it was just the next stop on the journey. Every journey has to start with a single step. So thank you for coming along on this A.P. adventure.

The next steps: this C.H.I.C Principal is well on her way!
